Amsi Cazares

As the oldest of 4 siblings, Amsi has always naturally been dependable, responsible, and a leader. She has taken the responsibility of setting a path for her siblings to follow, while also pursuing her education and following her dreams. She is the embodiment of what it means to be a Luchona - a young latina who carries their families hopes and dreams on their shoulders. Which is why she has been selected to be a HDF Luchona Named Scholar for multiple years.

A first-generation student, Amsi recently graduated from Johnson County Community College (JCCC) with a degree in Automotive Technology. To build on her skills, she will be returning to JCCC to pursue a certificate in Digital Media. This step will enhance her skills to meet her ultimate goal: owning and operating her own auto shop, by women, for women.

Her biggest piece of advice for students, especially women pursuing a career in male-dominated fields is to not let that difference hold you back. Ask questions. Be curious. Be confident. Because, you belong.

Deeply grateful for the support of her family, professors, and HDF team, Amsi looks forward to her future as she continues to expand on her skills and pave way for her sisters and women in the automotive industry.
